The Genuine Article We cannot say enough wonderful things about Michael. He is professional, reliable, responsive... and just truly went above and beyond for our wedding. Michael even came to our lake house after the wedding to take photos with our family. He communicated every step of the way and was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We couldn’t be happier with Michael and we are overwhelmingly pleased with our photos! We will use Michael for any photos we need in the future. Our Special Day!

To anyone needing pictures for any reason, let me try to tell you why Michael should be the first person you call. From the moment I first contacted Michael he was prompt in responding (something I appreciated more than he will ever understand), he remained in contact from the time we hired him to the day of our wedding to ensure he had a thorough understanding of my vision and to ensure he knew the most important things I wanted to be captured. I asked for our ceremony to be available on Livestream for our friends and family who couldn’t attend in person, something he had not done before, but he took it upon himself to ask others how he could make this happen for us because he knew how important it was to us. When he arrived at Mountain Lake he came to my room, introduced himself, and immediately got to work capturing the intimate moments I was fortunate enough to share with my daughters and my mom while we were getting ready for my special day!! He was kind, funny, engaging, spontaneous and most importantly he made certain I was completely at ease, he calmed me down more than once and constantly reassured me everything was going to be perfect…even during the moments, I wasn’t feeling as confident as he was, his calm demeanor and caring heart put my worried mind at total ease!! He was a true godsend and I knew we had made the perfect choice in hiring him to be the one to capture for all eternity our wedding day!! Michael, I don’t know what I would have done without you!! You will FOREVER be my first choice when I want a special event captured on camera!! Michael came to us with a reference from the officiant we found on Wedding Wire. After trying to get married three times, my husband and I decided to have a small intimate wedding. Unknowingly my best friend contacted my officiant who highly recommended Michael and boy did he go above and beyond. Michael extensively spoke with my best friend to see what type of flavor she thought the wedding pictures should be and when she became sick and was not able to make it to the wedding, Michael went above and beyond by picking up a flower bouquet for our wedding. He did his best to work with the family under the unique pandemic restrictions and provided pictures immediately. I highly recommend Michael if you want someone to help tell the story of your family, friends, and loved ones through his pictures. Oh my goodness my fiancé and I hired Michael to do our wedding and engagement photos and we just got access to our gallery for our engagement photos and could not be more pleased. My husband and I got married in June at Claytor Lake State Park and had our reception at Rockwood Manor in Dublin, Va. Mike was referred to us from a friend who got married at Claytor Lake last year. We couldn't have chosen a better photographer for our wedding! He came in Saturday morning while the bridesmaids were getting ready to talk to me about how I wanted the day to go. I had mentioned to him if we had time in the evening to go back to the lake to take pictures in the water (yes, in my wedding dress!) Of course we knew we wouldn't, but he had a brilliant idea... a sunrise photo session the next morning in the water (and at Lane Stadium!) It turned out INCREDIBLE!! Mike has such an amazing eye for things! Not only did he capture some great pictures at the lake and the football field, but all of the pictures were great! Our family and friends can't stop talking about them and say they are the most beautiful pictures they've ever seen! We would HIGHLY recommend Mike to anyone! And if you have a crazy idea, like getting in the water in your wedding dress, he's all for it! He'll even get in the water with you to make sure he gets the most beautiful moments!! Hiring Michael as our wedding photographer was the best decision we made in the whole wedding! He was easy to talk to and gave us different photo packages for the wedding day that had different degrees of price. We didn’t feel like there was only one really expensive option. One thing I was concerned about was having one photographer get the whole ceremony. Michael assured me that he could get everything we wanted by himself. AND HE DID!!! He was able to get anything and everything that I wanted from the ceremony and reception! We were incredibly pleased with how the photos turned out and we couldn’t be more grateful to Michael for capturing our special day. He even went above and beyond when he drove us up a mountain to get photos of our first look on a cliff. He is a true talent and we are so happy he was there for our wedding!

Carly said... Michael beyond exceeded my expectations! I called him only 7 days before our big day. The ceremony (elopement) was at 2:00pm but we desperately wanted sunset pictures. Michael insisted that he stay with us after the ceremony so we could also get sunset pictures. This was my Husbands and I first time doing professional photos EVER and he we were worried it was going to be awkward since we hate having our photos taken, BUT Michael's inviting personality made us feel very comfortable through out our whole journey! Michael helped make our wedding a day that we will cherish forever! And if that wasnt enough, we didnt get a sunset photo that I had my hopes on, so Michael came out the next day and not only captured amazing sunset photos but also did a whole photo shoot with us! Michael was an amazing photographer to work with. He was great about setting up our engagement pictures and spent most of the day with us, which was great and there were multiple different places we went to. He was gracious enough to help at our rehearsal and got wonderful shots that night. Our wedding was amazing and looking back at the pictures, I am so glad we were able to get him as our photographer! We couldn’t ask for better pictures, he has great ideas and will work around anything. We had plans to do a bridal shoot before my wedding with my dogs... all 4 of them, but I got sick. He has been gracious enough to work with me after the wedding so that I can have my pictures with our pups. Not every photographer will do that! Chinese Weddings in Blacksburg Va.

Michael is very nice, professional and responsible. He went to the wedding location to guide the direction of arch and chairs a week ahead. And I was previously worried that we will look like dwarfs because he is very tall, but all the photos look great and everyone look as their actual heights, so you don't need to worry about this. We order a package of 4 hours just for noon time, but he came pretty early and offered to take us to a garden after lunch to take more photos. Our friends referred Michael Keyes for our engagement pictures and we are SO HAPPY they did. We knew from day one we were planning a destination wedding and assumed we'd hire the resort photographer for ease. Once we worked with Michael on our engagement photos and saw his great work, we were hooked and knew we had to take him with us to Jamaica. Throughout the entire process and planning, Michael was very helpful, supportive and always went out of his way for us including helping us place the wedding day timeline and come up with a shot list. Once the days in Negril arrived, Michael integrated and connected with our guests right from the start. He was even able to keep the kiddos' attention during photos and helped calm all of our nerves. Michael Keyes at Photographic Dreams was amazing! He goes above and beyond the call of duty. He sat with us on a few occasions to map out our photographs, which we wanted to travel all over the Tech campus. He not only drove us, but provided refreshments! Beyond that, we had dreams of having our pictures taken in Lane Stadium but the recently locked the tunnel. Michael made it happen! He contacted people and got us into the stadium and even into the tunnel to touch the Hokie Stone! He came to our rehearsal dinner just to get to know the family and us and our interactions so that he could capture the right pictures at our wedding. He takes his time in getting the right pictures and is willing to put the time into editing. Our favorite picture had a pole right in the middle of the background, and he edited it out and made it look so natural! I would highly recommend Michael Keyes!

Michael was fantastic. He agreed to photograph our destination wedding, even though it wasn't going to be a large or long event. He drove 2+ hours each way, just to be there for us, and at a VERY reasonable rate. Not only was he professional and punctual, but he was so easy to work with. On top of the beautiful pictures, which he sent to us on a USB drive, he included a video of the wedding, which meant so much. Then, when I panicked at having lost the USB drive on a trip to see family, he sent me a new one and didn't even want to charge me. Michael has by far been one of the biggest blessings throughout our wedding planning process. Not only is he quick to respond to emails and very friendly, he is extremely talented and at such a reasonable cost. When looking for a wedding photographer I was looking for one that did not sacrifice quality for a lower cost, I also wanted one that would make us feel comfortable on our big day. After seeing some of Michael's work and then having over an hour conversation on the phone with him chatting about random things during our first convo, I knew he was our guy. We originally had planned on doing our engagement photoshoot in DC by the cherry blossoms, but sadly it rained and we had to reschedule. I was really bummed but Michael immediately offered other ideas for where we could have the shoot and sent me his next available dates. He then proceeded to tell us he would come to DC next year after the wedding to do a photoshoot of us in our tux and gown by the cherry blossoms free of charge! I was amazed and so excited, what photographer offers to drive 4 hours out of his way to do an extra shoot for his couples? After rescheduling our engagement shoot twice we finally met Michael at our venue which was around a 3.5 hour drive for him. He spent three hours with us there, made sure we got plenty of amazing shots (including the sunset), then drove all the way back home. He has such an artistic eye and is very creative, especially when the sun is setting. We got so many amazing shots that day - I received many compliments and people kept telling me "that photo looked like it was out of a fairytale!" The owner of our venue even commented on how amazing it was that he spent so much time with us. We have been so blessed to have found him, and we are so excited to have him shoot our wedding in two months! Trust me, if you are looking for a fun, creative, talented, reasonably priced photographer who loves his couples/work - you need to go with Michael.

I first met with Michael Keyes in 2006 when I hired him to shoot my first wedding. He was new to the area and I knew someone in common and that is how we came to meet. I loved his photos so much that when found myself remarrying, I remembered that the only time I have ever felt beautiful in photos was in my 2006 wedding photos, so I looked to Michael Keyes once again. I explored many options but found that anyone near his caliber and passion were priced much higher than Michael. You can find other photographers in Michael's generously priced range, and I am sure the photographers are lovely people, but their photos did not have the same professional look to them as Michael's. Once my new husband met with Michael and saw his work, he was also thrilled to work with him. This time, I also hired Michael to take engagement photos. Michael provided me with sample photos the day after both the engagement shoot and the wedding. My engagement photos arrived much quicker than expected and I am confident I will receive my wedding photos on time or early as well. The photos are high quality and he demonstrates a true knowledge of lighting, filters, lenses, backgrounds, etc. Michael has a passion for what he does and always comes prepared with many ideas. He goes above and beyond his job description and delivers more than promised. I fully plan on hiring him for future family and baby photos.

Michael was very accommodating and full of energy! I really wanted sunset shots but with the time of year it wasn't possible, so even before our wedding weekend got rained out, Michael agreed to come back the day after our wedding to get those sunset shots. Due to the rain, he allowed us to come back another weekend free of charge and took pictures of us for nearly 5 hours! I haven't seen all of the pictures from that day yet, but the few I have seen I am in love with! Everyone who sees them says they are romantic and beautiful, especially how he played with the lighting. Michael came to our rehearsal and had pictures printed out for us the next day. He was pretty much willing to be there the entire weekend, for one price! He was full of ideas for pictures and really friendly. I would definitely recommend Michael Keyes.

Due to the crammed wedding schedule and the weather, Michael went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we had the PERFECT pictures we had been looking forward to, coming back the next day. His professionalism and him as a person made for PERFECT wedding memories. Michael made sure to keep in touch from booking (we booked a year in advance) until our wedding day to make sure he knew every little detail. Could not have asked for more!!! Michael is a wonderful photographer. He did a fantastic job with both our engagement and wedding photos. It was important to us to include my dog in the photos. She is an abused rescue who doesn’t trust new people and gets scared easily. In other words, not the easiest to work with, but Michael was extremely patient and got some great photos of us with her. Could not have been happier. To top it off, he’s very affordable for the pictures and service he provides. We will definitely be using him in the future for any professional photos that we need.

Highly recommend Michael Keyes Photography for high-school senior pictures! We had never met Michael before the session, and my daughter and I were a little nervous beforehand. It didn't take long to realize we were in for an awesome session!
